The Members Only portion of the SGO Web Site (“Members Only Site”) will expressly ask for Your Web Site Unique ID and Your password to access the Members Only Site. The information that You provide to SGO to become a Member during the SGO Member registration or renewal process, including name, address, phone and payment information, together with any additional information You provide to SGO and information regarding the manner in which You use Your SGO Membership, will not be processed or disclosed by SGO except as permitted by this Policy or as required or allowed by applicable law or legal process.

SGO from time to time may delete or add to the personal information collected from You. From time to time, You may purchase SGO products or services, including SGO-organized or sponsored meetings or courses, or SGO may conduct surveys of SGO’s Membership regarding Member preferences for SGO products or services, including SGO-organized or sponsored meetings or courses. At that time, You may also supply other information to SGO at Your option, such as information about Your travel and lodging preferences and interests, meeting or course selections, additional financial information for payment purposes, and preferred informational topics.

The SGO Web Site is not designed to attract children under 13 years old, and Members are required to be 18 years of age or older. Accordingly, SGO will not knowingly collect or maintain information at the SGO Web Site from children.

2. Accuracy of Personal Information

When possible, the SGO Web Site will provide You with the means to make sure that Your Member information is correct and current. You may view Your name, title, address, phone number, facsimile number and e-mail address collected from You when becoming a Member or renewing Membership by entering the Members Only Site (using Your SGO Web Site Unique ID and SGO Web Site Password) and then reviewing Your information in the On-Line Membership Directory. For any other information not appearing in the On-Line Membership Directory, You must contact SGO directly in one of the four ways listed below. To correct any factual inaccuracies, You must send SGO a request that shows the error and the requested change. Information provided in response to surveys and financial information kept for accounting purposes may not be corrected; however, information provided to purchase SGO products or services may be altered by contacting SGO. SGO will make a good faith effort to process valid changes, but SGO does not promise to do so within a particular time frame. SGO will send You a confirmation e-mail once a change is effected.

SGO endeavors to protect the security of data collected on the SGO Web Site. The SGO Web Site uses an encrypted connection when transferring sensitive Personal Information. SGO also has put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information SGO collects online in accordance with industry standards. When SGO contracts with third parties to perform any services supporting the Web Site, such as meeting planning services, SGO will endeavor to ensure that the third parties protect the security of the Personal Information collected with comparable security standards.

4. Use of Personal Information & Opt-Out Policy

SGO uses Your Personal Information to operate the SGO Web Site, to contact You (including regular e-mail alerts and SGO meeting or conference notices); to effect, enforce, investigate, collect on and account for transactions related to the SGO Web Site; to populate Your entry in SGO’s Membership Directory; to adjust SGO’s offerings of products and services; to sell mailing labels of SGO Members; and to comply with applicable law. This may include without limitation processing and verifying orders for products, courses and conferences attendance; verifying Member credentials to maintain reasonable security; providing SGO with information regarding developing new features, products and services for Members and contacting You regarding new features, products and services. SGO may provide Your information, or You may provide Your information directly, to third parties who are responsible for implementing some of SGO’s services (e.g., meeting, conference or course registration and payment). Financial information that is collected is used to bill You for products, services and dues. Unique Identifiers are used to verify Your identity.

SGO uses Your IP address to analyze trends, track a user’s movement through SGO’s Web Site, help diagnose problems with SGO’s server, and to administer SGO’s Web Site. IP addresses are not linked to Personally Identifiable information.

SGO uses “cookies” to save Your SGO Web Site Unique ID and SGO Web Site Password so that You do not have to re-enter it each time You visit the SGO Web Site.

The SGO Web Site contains links to other sites, including to cosponsors of SGO meetings and courses. SGO may share information obtained from attendees of courses, conferences or meetings with cosponsors of such courses, conferences or meetings. SGO is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites or of its cosponsors.

SGO also uses outside companies to ship orders, to engage in conference, meeting and course planning and registration, and to process credit cards when billing users for products and services. SGO will endeavor to ensure that these third parties do not further use or disclose Your Personal Information for any purpose other than providing the products or services. SGO may share Your information with carefully selected and screened organizations, including other associations, educational institutions, government agencies, corporate members, etc. These other organizations are not bound by this Privacy Policy.

7. Accountability
